Update!

Posted by Leon Jang | Annoucements | Monday 19 October 2009 10:35 am

Hey everyone!

I have a few things on my agenda that I needed to communicate with our badminton populace.

A reminder of our club hours:
Wednesday: 7-9PM: Cedar Ridge Park
Friday 6-9PM: Farr Park
Saturday: 1-4PM Christian Student Center
For more information just email me at either badminton [at] lsu.edu or ljang1 [at] lsu.edu

First things first, a few days ago some one managed to use our mailing list to send out an email that was not approved by me. I have adjusted the settings on the mailing list and it should not happen again. I apologize for any inconvenience that that may have caused you.

Secondly, the gym is set to re-open on November 2nd. WOO! Once the gym re-opens I plan to start the following:
1. A Beginners class for either an hour or 2 hours a week.
2. Challenge Courts

If you have any suggestions regarding this section please let me know through email.

I also plan to work more closely with UREC and their Leagues and Tournaments program to get some more competitive play in.

Thirdly, the Houston Open is coming up soon.
Registration deadlines are of the following:
Mail in: October 23rd // Online Registration: October 26th
We will be playing on Nov 7 and 8.
Fees are as of the following: $35 (1st event), +$10 (2nd event), +$5 (3rd event).

Finally as some of you have heard, there is a tournament between the CSSA and the KSSA. Unfortunately, I have not received any news from the KSSA as of this moment. The CSSA has provided us with the following information:
Tournament Date: November 15
Deadline for Registration is 1pm on 10/22/09
Events: 3x MS    3x MD    1x WS    1xWD    1xXD
Games will be played on the 21 point system best out of 3.

For more information on the tournament please contact me.

If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments please contact me.

UHigh Practices Cancelled

Posted by Leon Jang | Annoucements | Wednesday 22 October 2008 8:43 am

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the late notice. The main reason I have been waiting is because I was hoping the REC would get back to me whether or not we could put down lines in the UHigh Gym. As some of you already know the new gym has been approved and a few of us went on monday night. However, there are no badminton court lines what so ever. This becomes problematic as theres not a lot you can do without badminton court lines.

I’m working with the Rec Center in order to get our lines in. So until further notice all UHigh Practices are Cancelled. If you wish to just hit around feel free to go but there will be no guarentee in the future that the person will be there at the specified time.

Please call and let everyone in the club know,
-Leon Jang

P.S. Just a reminder but there is no badminton on sunday at farr park due to the senior olympics

UHigh Courts

Posted by Leon Jang | Annoucements | Thursday 16 October 2008 5:31 pm

Good News everyone!

We have now been approved for the UHigh Gymnasium. Here are the following times we have been approved for:

3 Badminton Courts:

Monday - 6:30-8:15

Wednesdays - 6:30 - 8:15

Fridays - 6:30 - 10:00

These times will start this coming Monday, October 20, 2008.

Let me remind you that membership dues will be expected and waiver forms are a must. Collections will begin Monday. Membership dues will be $5 for everyone, student and associate. This is due to the fact that half the semester has already passed. So remember to bring money on Monday! We have a new policy this year regarding non-payment of membership dues. This policy declares that if one does not pay their membership dues that person will not be allowed to play during the Badminton Club’s designated time. This will be enforced strictly because of limited space (Note: These do not include BREC times as those are completely separate from the Badminton Club at LSU.) Enforcement will begin on Wednesday (Oct 22).

If you guys are having trouble finding the UHigh Gymnasium. They’re north of the “East Campus Apartments”.

http://campusmap.lsu.edu/map/

Refer to this map if you have any more troubles. The gym building is labeled on the map as well.

Thanks and I’ll see you all on Monday!

Badminton Club Update

Posted by Leon Jang | Annoucements | Sunday 14 September 2008 9:16 pm

Hey everyone! Hope everyone has power by now and is healthy and safe! Sorry for the late update. But here it is, our LSU UREC center has the basketball courts closed due to water damage to the courts and won’t be up till the spring at the earliest. This means that even if we wait till spring, the basketball courts still might not be up and running yet.

So I’m working with our URec staff to find another place for us to practice (just for LSU Badminton Club Members).

Here are the places you can play in the area for free. (Space is limited with 2 courts per place and you will have to bring your own rackets and shuttles. Some members may be kind enough to lend theirs but don’t count on it.)

Cedar Ridge Park 13000 Cedar Ridge Avenue //Wed 6:30-9:30 PM

Alaska Street Park 3014 Alaska Street // Tues, Thurs 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Farr Park 6400 River Road //Tues, Thurs, Fri. 9 a.m.-1 p.m

I got all this information at www.brec.org. Feel free to check yourselves. However, there is no information whether or not gustav has affected  these areas. Email me at ljang1 [at] lsu.edu, if you find another place or if you find one of these places don’t have badminton at the specific time.

Sorry everyone! I hope to see you guys soon!
