Hey everyone!
I have a few things on my agenda that I needed to communicate with our badminton populace.
A reminder of our club hours:
Wednesday: 7-9PM: Cedar Ridge Park
Friday 6-9PM: Farr Park
Saturday: 1-4PM Christian Student Center
For more information just email me at either jangl88 at hotmail.com, or ljang1 at lsu.edu
First things first, a few days ago some one managed to use our mailing list to send out an email that was not approved by me. I have adjusted the settings on the mailing list and it should not happen again. I apologize for any inconvenience that that may have caused you.
Secondly, the gym is set to re-open on November 2nd. WOO! Once the gym re-opens I plan to start the following:
1. A Beginners class for either an hour or 2 hours a week.
2. Challenge Courts
I also plan to work more closely with UREC and their Leagues and Tournaments program to get some more competitive play in.
Thirdly, the Houston Open is coming up soon.
Registration deadlines are of the following:
Mail in: October 23rd // Online Registration: October 26th
We will be playing on Nov 7 and 8.
Fees are as of the following: $35 (1st event), +$10 (2nd event), +$5 (3rd event).
Finally as some of you have heard, there is a tournament between the CSSA and the KSSA. Unfortunately, I have not received any news from the KSSA as of this moment. The CSSA has provided us with the following information:
Tournament Date: November 15
Deadline for Registration is 1pm on 10/22/09
Events: 3x MS 3x MD 1x WS 1xWD 1xXD
Games will be played on the 21 point system best out of 3.
Here is an exerpt of the email for your information:
To my knowledge, it is the
first time for CSSA at Baton Rouge to have a competition with KSSA. I
am not sure how good the badminton team of KSSA is. The preparedness
for the win is mandatory for the games.
·
The dead line to register for the CSSA badminton team is 1:00 PM,
Thursday, 10//22/2009.
·
We still have not enough women players.
If necessary, your double partners
may be changed, and the matches you will play may be adjusted.
Since we have so many good men badminton players, we have to
select some excellent players to represent CSSA. This will start on
10/25/2009. I will email to all registered CSSA players (not CSSA
list to avoid bothering others) this Thursday afternoon 10/22/2009,
for the info about the selection process and practices.
If KSSA badminton team is very good, we will ask the most
excellent players to represent CSSA.
If KSSA badminton team is not good enough, according to some
suggestions, each CSSA player cannot play multiple matches to
encourage more CSSA players to participate in the competition.
CSSA and KSSA will share the cost to buy birdies to be used in the
matches.
All players need to bring your own racquets. Shuttlecocks are NOT
provided when you practice and selection process for the competition.
I will discuss with the sports coordinator of KSSA for the more
details about the competition, such as matches order, birdies to use,
umpires and more. You should be told about the info.
If you need anymore information feel free to contact me,
